Mobility Robotic Assistance in a Human Environment
European Robotics Forum
March 21 2013, 1.30pm-3.30pm, Lyon (France)

This workshop aims to present research activities in the areas of robotic mobile service and robotic assistance to human mobility in different contexts of human life.
The targeted devices are robotic modules for personal assistance, such as mobile bases, walking aids, wheelchairs and transfer systems that can partly or fully support disabled and elderly people in their living environment.
Important issues for such devices are:
- Autonomous navigation and manipulation in populated environments with highly dynamic changes
- Taking into account social conventions and human behavior understanding
- Designing control interfaces for people with possible motricity/cognitive impairments
- Integration of mobility devices in a global assistance framework that requires communication between the assistance agents
- Instrumentation of the mobility devices for monitoring activities and state of health
